Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Description
Reporting directly to the CEO/Owner of Tradewinds Eco-Energy Solutions, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating and effectively managing the financial and accounting activities of the company.
The CFO advises and guides the CEO in managing the financial resources and they prepare, analyse, document and advise on business cases and financial scenarios to facilitate the decision-making of the CEO.
The CFO defines how the company should operate to maximize efficiency and productivity and oversees propelling the organization forward and increasing profitability.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Prepare and manage accurate accounting. Lead the daily operations of accounting functions including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general journal entries.
Prepare and issue financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Supervise the bookkeeper with payroll, benefits, HST returns and remittances.
Monitors, manages and forecasts cash flow, recommends and optimizes cash management practices.
Develop, recommend, and manage operating budgets and forecasts. Analyses and reports on variances.
Prepare and evaluate business cases and opportunities. Advises CEO of opportunities and risks and provides recommendations to optimize profitability and enhance business operations.
Develops and manages internal controls and risk management.
Lead and liaise with external accountants, banks and CRA.
All other related tasks required for the duties of the position.
Requirements
5 years or more of experience performing and leading a full-cycle accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related discipline.
Professional accounting designation: CPA or working towards designation would be an asset.
All other combinations of education, training and experience could be considered.
Valid driver’s license (class 5) as traveling between NB and PEI might be required.
Skills
Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer skills including MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and other accounting systems (QuickBooks).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – Being bilingual, an asset.
Demonstrate leadership, reliability and entrepreneurial skills.
Excellent analytical skills, details oriented and problem-solving attitude and abilities.
Strong work ethic and demonstrate interest in professional growth.
